April 11th 2014, Update from Daniel
Greetings from the UK. We have had a busy time since I last wrote to you. We really enjoyed our time in New Zealand and Australia, meeting up with so many old friends and indeed making a few new ones as well. I hope you all enjoyed the shows as much as we did. After over 30 years in the music business it’s fantastic to be able to experience something new and this experience came in the way of a trip to Sri Lanka to perform our first show. I never thought when I started all those years ago that I would travel so much and going to Sri Lanka was certainly never on my mind. We had a wonderful time there and I was amazed at the enthusiasm of the audience, they knew every word of every song and sang louder than I did. I really hope we get to visit you all again sometime.
There was no time to rest when we got home as after a quick trip to Donegal to see my mother who I’m glad to say is doing really well, Majella and I were invited as guests of our good friend Judy Halewood, whose company Halewood International sponsored “The Crabbies Grand National at Aintree” . It was my first time at the races and I have to say we had a wonderful day. Mind you I did go to the “Donkey Derby” at Keadue strand many years ago.
From Liverpool we headed North to Peebles in Scotland, where my nephew Chris married local girl Kelly Hall. Chris is my brother James and his wife Eileen’s son. It was a really happy occasion and as you can see from the picture in the galleries the Bride and Groom looked fantastic and a great day was had by all. The shows here in the UK have been going really well, we have 3 more left this week in Brentwood, Bristol and Blackpool. Then we will be back for another 6 shows in the UK in May.
I would like to thank all of you who sent good wishes after I made the announcement regarding taking an 18 month break next year, it really is heart-warming to feel your love and support. One thing I want to clarify is that we will be on the Gertrude Byrne Irish Cruise next year, I think because I said we were taking a break in February some people felt that we were not going on the cruise and the organisers have had many enquiries in relation to this. My break will start after the cruise.
I’m glad to say Majella is doing very well 2 months after her surgery and after the shows finish next week we will spend some time in Tenerife. We are really looking forward to the break.
I hope all is well with you,
