Picture Andres Poveda The Late Late Show is Ireland’s most popular and prestigious television show and is one of the longest running chat shows in the world. It has been running now for almost an unbelievable 56 years, having been first broadcast back in July 1962, and it’s massive popularity shows no signs of abating.
On Thu 19th April, Ryan Tubridy, the show’s current host, brought together the best and the brightest of the Irish country music scene for one of the most anticipated Late Late Shows of the year, ‘The Late Late Show Country Special’.
The Country Specials have proven to be one of the most popular of the Late Late Shows, with each of the Specials drawing more than a 50% viewing share.

The show saw some of the biggest names on the scene join Ryan in the studio in a show dedicated entirely to the ever popular music genre of Irish country. It also paid a very special tribute to the legendary country music singer, the late great Big Tom McBride, who passed away only the Tuesday before the show’s airing.
Guests included, Daniel, Ronan Keating, Lisa McHugh, Derek Ryan, Nathan Carter, Gloria, Philomena Begley, Louise Morrissey, Jimmy Buckley, TR Dallas, Margo, Robert Mizzell, Tony Allen, Mick Foster, Charlie Landsborough, Michael English, Susan McCann, Declan Nerney, Mike Denver, Paddy Cole, Sandy Kelly, Brendan Quinn, Charley Pride and many more.
At the end of the show, Daniel led all the other artists in singing a medley of songs made famous by Big Tom.
